List of Contraindications

Who is not a candidate for permanent makeup:

  • Those who have had Botox or fillers done around the brow area. Please wait at least 4 weeks before scheduling so it has time to settle.
  • Those with flaky/sensitive skin or acne around the brow area. Color retention may be poor. If you have a breakout, please wait until it is healed before scheduling.
  • Those with larger pores or oily skin. Nano brows are not recommended for this skin type. Hairstrokes done on this skin type will heal patchier or fade faster than usual and touchups will be needed more frequently. We may recommend a powder or combo brow instead.
  • Those who are on Retin-A, AHA's(Alpha Hydroxy Acids), or other products meant for exfoliation, anti-aging, brightening, etc. This will affect color and retention. Please discontinue these products 2 weeks before scheduling.
  • Those who are on blood thinning medications, such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, or others need to discontinue these 48 hours prior to the procedure.
  • Those who are blood thinning supplements, such as fish oils, Niaicin, etc. must discontinue use 2 weeks before the procedure.

Who can NOT receive permanent makeup:

  • Those who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • Those who are under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the appointment
  • Those who are under 18 (please consider henna brows as an option if you are underage)
Medical Conditions:
  • Those with viral infections or diseases, or epilepsy.
  • Those with skin conditions near the procedure area, such as psoriasis, eczema, keloid scarring, hyperpigmentation, rosacea, shingles, or open cuts or sores.
  • Those allergic to lidocaine or epinephrine.
  • Those with any type of healing disorder or major heart problems. Any medical condition that prevents your blood from clotting or affects your skin can lead to less than desireable healed results (ex. blurred hairstrokes, migration of pigment under the skin, and extreme fading).
  • Those who are actively going through chemotherapy or currently have cancer, please provide a doctor's note before we perform any procedure(s) on you.
  • Those who have had any blepharoplasty or similar surgeries around the brow area, please wait at least 3 months before scheduling an appointment.
  • Those who are on steroids.
  • Those who are on acne medication such as Accutane. This makes the skin extremely thin and sensitive. Please wait between 6 months to a year before scheduling.

Important Info for Scheduled Clients

Permanent makeup procedures are done in multiple sessions. Because healed results are different for every client, for many different reasons, NO guarantees can be made! Additional touchups (at an additional charge) may be needed to achieve the best results. Every effort is made to provide the best service, but factors beyond our control can affect the outcome. Everyone heals differently, and the amount of bleeding varies from person to person. In order for your brows to heal properly and look their best, please follow all pre-appointment and aftercare instructions! They are in place to limit the amount of sensitivity and bleeding you may experience during the procedure. Excessive bleeding can expel pigment out of the brows, or dilute it, resulting in poor retention and/or patchiness, which will require multiple sessions to achieve the desired results.

Consultations are always done prior to beginning any work to get an understanding of what you are looking to achieve, and to identify how best to bring out your natural beauty features. Feel free to come in with your makeup done how you prefer, or with your favorite brow pencil or even photos, so that we can get a feel for what you like! Color and shape will be discussed, as well as different techniques that may benefit you best based on your skin type and desired results. If you are unsure about whether you want hair strokes, powder, or a combo of the two, that can be discussed when you come in and can see the differences.

Brows are mapped out using the golden ratio and mapping tools. We shape the area using an outline around the brows and make sure things look as even as possible! The shape will be shown to you and once it's approved, the brows are numbed with a lidocaine, tetracaine, and epinephrine cream. A completely painless procedure cannot be guaranteed, but the majority of clients do not feel much, if any pain at all. Some even fall asleep!

Previous Work/Color Corrections

If you are scheduling for the first time with us and you have previous work done from another studio, a clear photo of the area with no makeup on and no filter must be sent in prior to scheduling so that we can evaluate if correction can be done or if the area requires lightening/removal first. This can be emailed to meadowlarkpmu@gmail.com. Please note that in order to best correct previous work, multiple sessions may be needed!
