WHAT are nano brows & HOW LONG DOES it LAST?
The Nano Brow technique is a semi-permanent tattoo method designed to implant pigment between the dermis and epidermis of the skin to create hairstrokes throughout the brow. A rotary tattoo machine in used with a single, very fine needle. When done correctly, the result can give a full but very natural look to the brows. Unlike those old-school solid eyebrow tattoos, this technique does not leave a solid, blocky look, but instead creates a soft feathery hair effect. The appointment is split into two sessions. During the first, we discuss shape and color, and then map out the brows with an outline according to your natural shape and any adjustments you had in mind (if you aren’t sure what might look best, I am more than happy to make suggestions based on my experience!) Once you are satisfied with the general shape, numbing agents are then applied, color is mixed, and then the work begins! This can take anywhere from 2-3 hours total. The second appointment is done to perfect the brows, whether that means adding more once you get a feel for what to expect (I’m a big fan of starting off conservatively.. we can always add more later!), adjusting color, or adding to any faded or shrunken hairstrokes that occurred during the healing process. This time around can take between 1.5-2 hours on average, depending on how the brows healed.
Results can vary from person to person, depending on your lifestyle, skin type, and skin care routine. A touch-up appointment is usually recommended yearly, give or take.
how do you choose the shape and color?
This is why a consultation is needed before any work begins..to figure out what shape and style you desire, while paying attention to what suits your facial features and bone structure. A wax pencil is used to mark the outline of your brows, and tools such as a brow caliper, tweezers and colored thread for straight lines makes certain that the two brows are as symmetrical as possible. As for color, we look at not only your hair color, but you skin tones and undertones to make sure it heals well too. Please remember that the color can fade roughly 50% after the first visit.
what types of pigments are used?
I use a brand of cosmetic tattoo pigment known as "Brovi+". They are known for their stable colors and long lasting healed results! The ingredients in this line consist only of deionized water, witch hazel extract and colorants.
If you are unsure that you may be allergic to any ingredients in the pigments, as well as any other materials used, such as lidocaine or epinephrine, please contact me beforehand to discuss options or schedule a simple patch test. If a patch test is done, a waiting period of 1 week is needing to gauge any possible reactions to the pigment before scheduling for your procedure.
who is inELIGIBLE for permanent makeup?
I do not provide PMU services to anyone: who is under 18 years old, pregnant or nursing (due to the increase of hormones that can affect the healed results of your new procedure), those who have conditions such as diabetes, glaucoma, or any skin diseases such as Shingles, eczema, or psoriasis on the area to be worked on, allergies to makeup (if you are unsure, a patch test behind the ear or inner wrist can be applied as a test in the weeks before your appointment), Keloid disorder (microblading over regular scars is OK), HIV/Hepatitis, skin cancer, hemophilia, or if you are taking skin medications such as steroids or Accutane. If Botox, Juvederm or fillers have been recently done, please wait a minimum of 2-3 weeks before your appointment to let things settle.
DOES THE PROCESS HURT?
I use a range of medical grade anesthetics to help make you as comfortable as possible! A topical cream anesthetic is applied for a duration of 20 minutes before the procedure. Throughout the procedure, a topical liquid anesthetic is applied to help ease any possible discomfort throughout. The anesthetics used in my products are Lidocaine, Tetracaine, and Epinephrine.
